Iron Range: Minnesota Building America tells the remarkable story of a region just 10 miles wide and 100 miles long that helped build modern America. This Emmy Award-winning documentary explores the land, mines, people, and work of Minnesota’s Iron Range – from the discovery and extraction of its vast iron resources to the waves of immigrants who came to work in the mines and build communities across the Range. Through the voices of historians, scholars, and Iron Range residents, the film explores mining and industry, immigration and cultural change, labor and politics, and the people whose lives and work shaped the region. At its heart, Iron Range: Minnesota Building America reveals how the history of this distinctive Minnesota place is deeply connected to the larger story of America.
